    Swaziland

The small, landlocked kingdom of Swaziland is located in Southern Africa, between Mozambique and South Africa. With its beautiful nature and unique cultural traditions, Swaziland attracts tourists from neighbouring countries as well as from overseas. However, the main source of income for the Swazis is still agriculture. Although it is one of the smallest African countries both in land area and population, within the three weeks of the Short Course the participants will get to experience Swaziland’s full diversity. They will see both mountains and low-lying lands, cities as well as nature and wildlife, the local lifestyle as well as a more Western one.

Apart from all the amazing features Swaziland has to offer, also faces numerous challenges. The HIV/AIDS epidemic, low availability of quality education in addition to problems with democracy and economic development, are some of the issues keeping the Swazis from reaching a higher standard of living. These themes and more will be discussed during the Short Course, giving the participants a thorough understanding of what is happening in Swaziland.

Swaziland's native language, Siswati, is spoken throughout the country. Nevertheless, one can survive by using the second official language, English. Making Swaziland even more pleasant to visit is the low level of crime compared to neighbouring countries. One of the trademarks of Swaziland is its relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and although the Short Course will be work-filled and intense, the chilled mood of the country will surely catch up on our participants.
